As you weave through the bustling streets, the guide will point out several hidden gems and cultural landmarks tucked between shops and stalls, including the striking red-and-white Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque (Red Mosque), the colonial-era Khan Clock Tower, and the Victorian-style Old Town Hall and Museum. Dating back to the 5th century during the reign of King Dhatusena, the Aukana Buddha stands in a serene posture, symbolizing the "Asisa Mudra" (blessing gesture), and is renowned for its remarkable detail and graceful proportions. The craftsmanship is such that even the robe's pleats appear soft and lifelike, and legend has it that a single drop of rain falling on the statue's head flows perfectly down its nose—a testament to the precision of its design.

Built by King Kasyapa, it features impressive engineering with a lion-paw entrance, surrounded by a moat and ramparts. The site is famous for its ancient frescoes, resembling the Gupta style, and the ‘Mirror Wall’ covered in centuries-old graffiti. Later around (1000 am), proceed oto visit Hiriwadunna village to experience the simplicity of rural life and local culture

This scenic trek takes you through lush jungle paths, alongside paddy fields, and across a tranquil man-made reservoir by traditional catamaran. This visit offers a fascinating insight into Sri Lanka’s rural agricultural economy and the dynamic supply chain that connects remote farming communities to major cities like Colombo, Kandy, and beyond.

In the morning, at 8:00 AM, head to the Kandy Railway Station to board the scenic train bound for Hatton. Considered one of the most breathtaking train journeys in the world, this ride takes you through lush tea plantations, misty mountains, cascading waterfalls, and charming rural villages. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ever-changing landscapes as you ascend into the heart of Sri Lanka’s hill country—a truly unforgettable experience. (Approx. 03 -04 hours’ journey)

Upon arriving to Hatton your guide will accompany you to the Christ Church Warleigh, Dickoya, built in 1878, is a serene colonial-era Anglican Church overlooking the Castlereagh Reservoir. Surrounded by tea plantations, it features beautiful Gothic architecture, stained-glass windows, a 140-year-old Bible, and an antique pipe organ. The adjacent graveyard holds the tombs of early British planters. A short 30–45 minute visit offers a peaceful and scenic glimpse into Sri Lanka’s colonial past—ideal to combine with a trip to nearby tea estates or the reservoir.
